An urgent request has been registered at Manilva Town Hall to protect several vulnerable families facing an eviction scheduled for 24 March.
A document filed at the Manilva Town Hall registry office requests the urgent adoption of protective measures for several families living in the municipality who are in a vulnerable situation and face a court-ordered eviction scheduled for 24 March 2026.
The document, submitted by means of a general application form, was registered on behalf of a local resident and ten other people, all of them included in a power of attorney granted to the lawyer Francisco Granados Romero, who is asking the Town Hall to intervene in the situation affecting several family units living at number 2 calle Sarmiento.
They report insufficient action by Social Services
In the document, the lawyer states that the Town Hall allegedly has not adequately guaranteed the protection of vulnerable people, among them minors, older people and people with disabilities, who live in the property.
According to the registered document, the court in Estepona has allegedly set the date of the eviction for 24 March, while, according to the argument presented, there is allegedly no complete socioeconomic report on all the family units affected, nor sufficient measures adopted for their protection.
The document maintains that this situation could constitute a «de facto action by omission», as the procedures necessary to guarantee the protection of these vulnerable people have allegedly not been followed, according to the claimant.
Presence of minors and people with disabilities
The document states that the affected residents include several families with children, among them children aged 6 and 10, as well as other minors aged 17, 14 and 13, in addition to people with officially recognised disabilities, some of them with serious health problems and even reduced mobility.
According to the document, all these people are in a situation of particular social and economic vulnerability, and no emergency housing alternative has so far been established.
They request measures before the eviction
Through this request registered at the Town Hall, the council is asked to adopt preventive and protective measures before the court-ordered eviction takes place, including:
Carrying out a complete socioeconomic analysis of all the family units.
Adopting specific protective measures for minors and vulnerable people.
Providing an emergency housing alternative if necessary.
The document also warns that, should these measures not be adopted, legal action could be taken so that the judicial authority assesses whether the administrative response was sufficient, also claiming possible damages estimated at €20,000, without ruling out other legal action.
A case attracting significant media attention
The situation has reached the Spanish Parliament and has brought into focus the debate on the protection of vulnerable people in eviction proceedings, especially when minors or dependent people are among those affected.
At present, it has not emerged whether Manilva Town Hall has already taken any action following the submission of this officially registered document.
