The first espetero course (espetero: a specialist in grilling sardines on skewers over an open fire), launched by the Training department, headed by councillor Marcos Ruiz, has given twelve students the chance to discover and learn this art, so deeply rooted in our town.
With the backing of the Escuela de Hostelería Costa del Sol, which is in charge of the theory element online, and with the expertise of Málaga’s best espetero, José Antonio Moreno, who teaches the practical side at the restaurant La Orilla, participants are guaranteed a high-quality education.
The councillor himself, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and councillor Daniel Muñoz went to the promenade to support these new professionals, extending that support to this trade, which is in high demand in the summer season.
Both today at midday and tomorrow, Wednesday, from 13:00, these students are putting their skills into practice, and customers of the restaurant will be able to taste the sardines free of charge.
