The mayor of Manilva and head of Public Safety, Mario Jiménez, has held a further meeting with the Chief of the Local Police, Juan Montero, to learn first-hand about the actions carried out by the force and the current situation in the town regarding incidents related to the pandemic.
This contact, which takes place almost daily, seeks to find solutions to any problems that may arise and, above all, to keep informed about safety in our town, especially in the times we are living through.
According to the mayor: «the work of the Local Police is essential to maintain order and harmony in our town, and their daily actions number in the hundreds. As for the pandemic situation, we must help to curb the virus and, as far as possible, avoid leaving home»
It should be remembered that officers continue to carry out surveillance and monitoring duties on people who must be in quarantine, either because they have tested positive or because of a close contact. In addition, the stepping up of traffic management on the roads is resulting in people travelling through our town being safer. Checks are also being carried out frequently.
Since the start of the pandemic, dozens of people who have not worn a face mask, who have held illegal gatherings, or who have even come from other locked-down towns have been advised, warned and then fined.
In recent days, in relation to the cases mentioned, there have been around twenty warnings for breaking the curfew, around ten fines for not wearing face masks and as many again for arriving in our town from locked-down areas.
