Only a few weeks ago, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, speaking at the laying of the foundation stone for the extension of the school in Sabinillas, told the Junta’s provincial delegate for Education in Málaga, Mercedes García Paine, publicly of the need for a new secondary school.
The response has not been long in coming and this morning, technicians from the aforementioned regional body visited the town to see the plots where the new school could be located.
To this end, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, the Urban Planning councillor, Marcos Ruiz, the head of Infrastructure and Works, Diego José Jiménez, and the Education councillor, Daniel Muñoz, welcomed them at the GEUMA to give them all the technical details on plan, and then accompanied them to show them the options available at municipal level.
The two plots, which must cover an area of around 6,000 m2, are located, one, adjoining the «Las Viñas» secondary school and the other between the school itself and the Maicandil area.
It should be remembered that a new school will relieve pressure on the existing one, as well as making it possible to offer new study options in Vocational Training.
The Junta’s technicians have taken careful note of all the details of these two alternatives and will then draw up a report to decide on the better of the two.
The Governing Team is very pleased with the efforts made with other administrations and with being able to continue contributing to the education community so that new generations can develop in the best possible setting and with the greatest opportunities.
