The council chamber has hosted the press conference to present the A8 Minibasket Championship, which will be held in our municipality on 28, 29 and 30 January.
Attending were the Vice-President of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Ricardo Bandrés, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, the councillor for Sports, Manolo Gil, and the president of CD Manilva Basketbase, Rafael Mena.
On behalf of the Federation, Ricardo Bandrés thanked those involved for the work being done for basketball in the municipality of Manilva, both by the Town Hall and by the local basketball club.
Mario Jiménez highlighted the importance of breaking with the seasonality of tourism thanks to sporting events of this scale, which in this case will mean 1,000 people staying in our municipal area.
The head of Sports, Manolo Gil, explained that the Andalusian Championship will be played both at the Pabellón Las Viñas and at the Ciudad Deportiva de Sabinillas, which is managed by Edufy and where the grand final will be played.
This change is due to capacity restrictions at the sports facilities.
Manilva Basketbase is collaborating closely in this regional competition. Its president also had words of thanks for the Town Hall and the Federation.
As a result, everything is now ready to enjoy the best minibasket basketball over a weekend in which the eight Andalusian provinces will compete for this title, which is being decided in Manilva for the third time.
