The mayor of Manilva, José Manuel Fernández, has visited the municipality’s fire station to listen to the concerns of its firefighters and present them with Manilva Town Hall’s project for the future.
Fernández has informed Francisco Carrasco, a firefighter in Manilva and CCOO secretary of the Málaga Fire Service consortium, that the intention of the governing team is to create new facilities at a strategic location better suited to the needs of emergency response.
The aim is for this new space to house not only the firefighters, but also the headquarters of the Local Police and Civil Protection.
Modern and functional facilities
The local mayor has stressed that the current facilities do not meet the requirements for habitability, training and safety, so relocation is necessary. «It makes no sense for a fire station, which needs quick exits and plenty of space for manoeuvres, to be at the entrance to Manilva», he said.
The new facilities will be located at a strategic point in the municipality, which will allow firefighters to act more quickly and effectively in an emergency. They will also meet all the requirements needed to guarantee the habitability, training and safety of the personnel.
One more step towards improving public safety
The new fire station project is one more step in Manilva Town Hall’s commitment to improving public safety. The town has a professional and dedicated fire service, which carries out essential work for the safety of residents.
The mayor will meet the provincial head to analyse the viability of the project and begin taking steps towards its implementation.
