The councillors for Infrastructure and Works, Diego José Jiménez, and for Sport, Manolo Gil, accompanied by area director Mari Ángeles Ramos and a municipal technician, have visited the Manilva municipal swimming pool to check on the progress of the work being carried out at the site.
This public service had barely been refurbished in terms of infrastructure and urgently needed its facilities upgrading and modernising.
The machine room, which poses a certain danger because of its cramped space and the poor condition of the hut, will be adapted to meet current regulations.
Chlorine will also be replaced with salt, using saltwater chlorination, which will improve hygiene and be better for swimmers’ skin.
Another important new feature will be a ramp for getting into the pool and a pool lift, to make it easier for people with reduced mobility to get in and out.
As for sporting activity, once all of these important changes have been made, the municipal swimming pool will be used to plan a variety of activities over the summer.
