Aq A Local Police officer nearly run over by a drunk driver while marking out the scene of the accident.
At around 19:30 this evening several vehicles were involved in an accident at the junction giving access to Avenida Leopoldo Alas Clarín in Sabinillas, where the road surface, slippery from the rain, meant drivers were unable to control their vehicles.
The collision, although dramatic, did not require an ambulance. The Guardia Civil and the Manilva Local Police arrived at the scene when suddenly one of the officers who was marking out the scene had to literally jump to avoid being hit by a vehicle, which ended up crashing into the Local Police car. The officers immediately noticed that the driver showed clear signs of drunkenness and proceeded to carry out a breathalyser test, which confirmed their suspicions.
Meanwhile, another vehicle approached the scene of the collisions with its front left wheel completely destroyed. When the officers stopped the driver to warn him, they realised that he too showed clear signs of drunkenness, so they made him get out of his vehicle to carry out the test, with the same result as the previous driver.
