This is the categorical statement made to the public by the Izquierda Unida Manilva spokesman Agustín Vargas in an interview with this newsroom, in which he provides a 2008 document setting out a collaboration agreement for 2 new bus shelters and 4 replacements, between the Málaga Provincial Delegation of the Regional Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Junta de Andalucía and the Exmo Ayuntamiento de Manilva for the installation and operation of bus stop shelters.

For that date, this newsroom has searched its archive and found the installation or replacement of 7 shelters: specifically the now-removed shelter at Lidl, the one installed opposite the Local Police, those at Los Hidalgos (without glass and rusty), Los Granados (without glass and rusty), Hacienda Guadalupe (without glass and rusty), below the Duquesa Golf hotel and at the Castillo. In some of these shelters there is therefore an evident case of neglect, alleged dereliction of duty and failure to comply with this collaboration agreement on the part of the Regional Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Junta de Andalucía and Manilva Town Hall itself.

The document, signed by Mrs Josefa López Pérez as Provincial Delegate of the Regional Ministry of Public Works and Transport in Málaga and by the mayor of the time, Mrs Antonia Muñoz Vázquez, made the agreement valid from the date of signing, with the following points worth highlighting:

  • The Exmo Ayuntamiento de Manilva undertakes to carry out, itself or through third parties, the operation, upkeep and maintenance of the shelters installed within the municipality, with the costs to be borne by it. It is obliged to ensure that replacement materials are the same as those of the supplying companies, which are those approved by the Regional Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
  • To monitor the actions envisaged in the Agreement, Manilva Town Hall will appoint a contact person with the Provincial Delegation of Public Works and Transport, in order to exchange information about this agreement and promote coordinated action.

We recall that this newsroom has been reporting for more than 8 years the state of neglect of these shelters, to the point that even Canal Sur Televisión picked up on it in January 2021, and the Town Hall got out of the situation by means of a press release with the following statement: View document
