As happened in January 2021, when Manilva was left without any of the 68 bus shelters installed across Andalusia, our town has once again been left without a single bus shelter in the distribution that the Junta de Andalucía has put out to tender for intercity transport in 23 municipalities in the province of Málaga.
The tender amount excluding VAT is 322.903,22 euros and the period set in the contract for carrying out the works is four months. Interested companies may submit their bids until 27 June at the headquarters of the Territorial Delegation for Development, Infrastructure and Spatial Planning in Málaga.
The new bus shelters will thus be installed in Gaucín, Atajate, Benarrabá, Arriate, Cañete la Real, Antequera, Teba, Villanueva de la Concepción, Casares, Tolox, Alozaina, Casarabonela, Valle de Abdalajís, Villanueva del Rosario, Vélez-Málaga, Alfarnate, Comares, Alcaucín, Sedella, Canillas de Albaida, Frigiliana, Almogía and Iznate.
The bus shelter is the structure, located at bus stops, fitted with a protective roof and enclosure panels, as well as various accessories, to shelter users while they wait.
The planned work is co-financed with the Junta de Andalucía’s own funds and by the European Union. 80% of the funding comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Installing bus shelters, with the mandatory safety and accessibility conditions, requires a series of preliminary works to ensure adequate foundations, the installation of earthing connections, tactile paving and accessible pedestrian routes, among others. Likewise, it is necessary to dismantle shelters that are to be replaced because of their deterioration, or that are difficult to reach because they lack an accessible and safe pedestrian route.
For this reason, a mixed contract has become necessary, in accordance with article 18 of Law 9/2017 of 8 November on public sector contracts, as it involves, on the one hand, the manufacture and supply of the bus shelters and, at the same time, the carrying out of the works needed to install them.
