Following our constant criticism and repeated calls over the state of the bus stop shelters in our municipality, the Government Delegation in Málaga of the Junta de Andalucía, which is directly responsible for them, has clarified the current situation to this newsroom, directly blaming these delays on authorisation from Carreteras del Estado (the State Roads authority).

According to the Junta de Andalucía, on 30 July 2021 a request for a report was submitted, which was answered on 17 August 2021 stating that the draft report would be forwarded to the Demarcación de Carreteras del Estado en Andalucía oriental (Granada) for a decision, as these shelters are installed in the public domain zone of the Autovía del Mediterráneo (N340 – A7).

As of this new tender being made public by this outlet, the roads authority has not responded to the Government Delegation’s request, so, given the urgency of processing this new contract award, other alternative locations in the province were sought.

To take a positive from the letter, this provincial Delegation confirms that it is aware of the state in which these shelters find themselves and that action in the town is by no means ruled out.
