This morning, in the presence of the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the councillor responsible for Infrastructure and Works, Diego José Jiménez, the site layout document (acta de replanteo) was signed for the imminent start of the remodelling of Avenida Miraflores in Sabinillas.
The project, which has been widely demanded by residents, was drawn up by the municipal technician, Ernesto Vega, as the Infrastructure councillor, Diego José Jiménez, explained. He said that both the appearance and the functionality of the street will be improved. However, as the councillor pointed out, the most important aspect of the works is that the capacity for evacuating rainwater will be doubled, which will significantly improve drainage of rainwater in the event of flooding.
The works, which will begin at the start of next week, have an execution period of 5 months and are being carried out with funds from the Diputación Provincial.
For his part, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, expressed his satisfaction at the start of the works, which have a budget of 325.000 € and will improve the pavements, the road surface and the street lighting, among other elements.
The mayor said that this date was chosen for the works because there is less traffic on this road, one of the main arteries of the town, and he hopes that as little disruption as possible will be caused to residents and to the businesses located there. He stressed, however, that the aim is to improve the town’s infrastructure, which is the main objective of the governing team.
According to the project as drawn up, this area needed urgent remodelling because of the deteriorated state of the road surface, the result of the recent and unfortunate work carried out in recent years to renovate it. This has left the street in a deplorable condition, with an incoherent layout, including small tree pits with lamp posts placed in the middle of the road. Renovation and a new layout for the area were therefore recommended.
The project also states that Sabinillas has suffered significant flooding, which has shown that the drainage capacity of the area’s rainwater networks is insufficient.
The proposed work involves renewing the street’s paving and infrastructure, improving accessibility and renewing those infrastructures that require it. In particular, it will improve the energy efficiency of the public lighting network, which will be replaced with LED lights, and double the current rainwater network, as the infrastructure councillor explained. The aim is to improve drainage capacity and resolve the current flooding problems suffered by this part of town.
The works will cover a length of 250 metres, with a paved surface to be renewed of 1.500 square metres.
The total area in which the works are located is 3.870 square metres, with a length of approximately 170 metres and a width varying between 19 and 27 metres.
