Manilva resident Francisco Vázquez secured second place this morning in the XXIII Spanish Championship for Local Police officers in the mountain bike category, held in the town of Barbastro in Huesca.
This prestigious championship, which could not be held last year because of COVID, brings together Local Police officers who practise this sport every year. This edition featured more than 200 cyclists, who had to complete three laps of a demanding 16-kilometre circuit.
Vázquez rode a race that improved as it went on. Starting from the third row of the grid, he moved up the field without losing his composure to achieve a creditable fourth place overall and second in his category.
The rider, who belongs to the Club Ciclista Manilva, works as a Local Police officer in San Roque. At the end of the race he wished to thank all the sponsors who have helped him, in one way or another, to achieve this goal: Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, Tu Entrenas, One4One, Equilibrium fisioterapia, Prokamper, BikeZoo, San Roque Local Police, the Sports department of Manilva Town Hall, the Sports department of San Roque Town Hall and San Roque Town Hall.
