That is how bluntly it has been put by the only opposition party in Manilva, Izquierda Unida, which has given what it believes is the reason why the Board of Directors of the bank decided to close the doors of its branch in the town centre of Manilva. It could be down to the transfer of the accounts of the Town Hall itself to another bank located in Sabinillas. Any potential benefits obtained from this move are not yet known, but it has caused a significant loss for all the residents and customers of this bank in the town centre, which is left without a bank branch.

Following this move, Manilva Town Hall threatened yesterday to start planning and legal proceedings to force UNICAJA to meet a series of planning obligations which, until now, it had preferred to keep in a drawer, thus putting the interests of the bank ahead of the interests of the residents of Manilva themselves.

The question does not go unnoticed: is this planning breach new, or has it been sitting in a drawer for some time without the governing team looking after the general interests of its residents? What would happen if the bank decided to take a step back and keep its branch open? Would the irregularities that the same government has made public disappear? We remind readers that the irregularities are not small: according to Manilva Town Hall itself, of the 70,000 m2 of the Colonia plot, 14,000 m2 would be green space, 20,000 m2 would be promenade and pedestrian open areas, in addition to 14,000 m2 of roads for vehicle traffic.

«Pandora’s box» has been opened and this newsroom will try to keep reporting on it.
