Marcos Ruiz and Laura López do not want to let any more time pass and wish to tackle immediately the language problem faced by the seven Ukrainian refugee families who have arrived in Manilva.

Yesterday it was announced that classes would be provided so that these people can acquire a basic knowledge of Spanish and get by more easily, meaning the language barrier can be overcome.

The Training councillor, Marcos Ruiz, said that the Town Hall is going to launch this beginners’ Spanish workshop for Ukrainians, which will be delivered through a local company, Preform Consulting, which will hire teachers. The company will make no commercial profit and will limit itself to the costs of the course.

For her part, the native-speaker teacher, Olga Sergyeyeva, explained that this is a course for refugees who are able to reside in Spain this year, until their situation in the country is settled.

Sergyeyeva said that the children will learn at school, but the adults will be able to use this course, which lasts several months, to take their first steps in the language, allowing them to communicate and integrate into life in our country. It may also help them enter the job market in order to support their families.
