The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the Commerce councillor, Francisco Becerra, have held a meeting to assess the support offered to the business sector in our town, the campaigns to promote local commerce, the municipal aid available and future plans to continue supporting and strengthening the various trades, which are one of the municipality’s most important economic assets.
Only a few days ago, at the latest council meeting, the Government Team ratified, for the third consecutive year, the suspension of the ordinance regulating the charge for the occupation of public land. This decision will help to support and facilitate the commercial activity of our business owners and ease their burdens, especially as the pandemic continues. It should be remembered that direct aid to local business owners since the health crisis began has totalled 600.000 euros.
The campaigns carried out by the commerce department, «Apuesta por tu comercio», the publicity given to local businesses and municipal support mean that the business fabric is in a good position to continue growing as it was before the pandemic.
Good evidence of this is the newly created businesses and the applications received at Manilva Town Hall to open many more. From December to January, the number of companies in the town increased by 8 new companies: 2 in the services sector, 6 in the construction sector and 1 in the industrial sector, while activity in the agricultural sector fell by one company.
In this regard, municipal officials also discussed at the meeting the line of support for entrepreneurs who submit an activity plan. A budget allocation of 200.000 € will serve to encourage local business and help those with initiatives to open their own shops.
