One of the weekend attractions in our town used to be the so-called «Sunday flea market». The fairground welcomed hundreds of people who enjoyed a stroll among a wide variety of stalls selling all kinds of products.
The pandemic made it impossible to keep it going completely, and the authorities above municipal level advised avoiding any kind of gathering of people.
Manilva Town Hall continued working to ensure that this site, now municipally owned, was put to use and made available to the public, and the sports and leisure project was started.
With the works practically finished, residents will be able to enjoy an esplanade equipped for various sports such as football, basketball, handball and climbing, as well as walking along a circuit or cycling.
Once the space has been defined and laid out, the site will be able to combine the Sunday flea market with the sports and leisure area.
For this reason, the flea market will return on Sunday 15 January, giving priority to the stalls, with the aim of not creating unfair competition for local traders and so that the markets of Manilva and Sabinillas keep their customers.
