The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, has signed the final contract with the representatives of UTE Relima for them to take charge of cleaning in the municipality.
The formal ceremony, also attended by the Cleaning councillor, Paqui López, the Infrastructure and Works councillor, Diego José Jiménez, and the Parks and Gardens councillor, Francisco Becerra, means that the service is due to begin imminently.
The service will cover the collection, transport and delivery of household waste. It will also include waste collection from street markets, and the removal of dead animals, bulky items, illegal dumping, and waste from fairs and festivals. The selective collection of organic waste will also be included, in line with current regulatory and social requirements.
As for street cleaning, this involves work on roads, green areas, public spaces, pedestrian zones, pavements and kerbs across all public streets. It includes the removal of stains, oils, grease, wax, chewing gum and other items, as well as the watering, scrubbing and washing down of public streets.
Work will also be carried out in the areas around all the containers located on public roads and beaches for the Urban Solid Waste Collection service.
Emergency cleaning will be carried out following exceptional events such as rain wash-outs, gales and similar incidents.
The service will also cover the playgrounds of state schools, as well as fixed outdoor sports equipment (outdoor gyms) and children’s play areas located in urban public spaces and on beaches.
There will be an on-call service to respond to emergencies or to carry out immediate action in various situations, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Awareness campaigns, advertising and communication activities will also be carried out in general.
This is a very comprehensive reinforcement, considered essential given the size of the population in our municipality and the particular layout of its different areas, to which must be added the dozens of housing estates and communal areas.
