The Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos (AMPA) Santa Ana of IES Las Viñas has formally asked Manilva Town Hall to ensure that all the political groups on the municipal corporation join forces to demand that the Junta de Andalucía urgently build a new secondary school in the municipality.
In its letter, the AMPA warns that the current school has 1,400 pupils, double its original capacity of 700 students. This situation, they say, has a negative effect on both the quality of education and the working conditions of the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff.
The request is backed by the AMPAs of the municipality’s three primary schools: “El Cortinal”, “El Oleaje” and “El Poniente”, whose pupils will be the future students of IES Las Viñas, which underlines the urgency of tackling the overcrowding problem.
“Fight together for the education of our children and young people. Remember that education does not change the world, but the people who are going to change it”, the statement concludes.
The AMPA thanks the authorities in advance for their attention to this request, which it considers a priority in order to guarantee a decent, high-quality education in Manilva.
