Since the summer campaign began, the Local Police, in coordination with the Guardia Civil, have stepped up surveillance across our municipality. The registered or year-round population triples in the summer months, so the number of operations and requests from residents increases.

The mayor of Manilva and the person ultimately responsible for security in the town, Mario Jiménez, meets weekly with the Chief of the Local Police, Juan Montero, to learn first-hand the details of what happens each day and the needs that arise.

Local officers are paying particular attention to compliance with covid measures, such as the wearing of face masks when a safe distance cannot be kept, possible overcrowding in establishments, the misuse of the beaches after 23:00 and any irresponsible behaviour that endangers public health.

In addition, there are patrols on the beach with a special vehicle and a presence in areas where large numbers of people gather, such as the seafront promenade or the Puerto de la Duquesa. Patrols are also carried out around the housing developments and residential areas.

The sole aim of all this is for residents to feel calm and at ease, to deter illegal activity and to give a sense of security.
