The Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing has increased the Summer Coastal Transport Programme to 31 routes this summer, five more than in 2023. This year, 118 inland towns and villages will have a public transport service taking their residents to the beach.

It is an intercity public passenger service from inland towns and villages less than an hour from the Andalusian coast, for journeys not covered by the concession holder. The cost is equivalent to applying the per-kilometre fares of the concessions to the relevant routes.

Sabinillas beach will be one of the lucky ones to receive every Saturday in July and August residents of Cortés de la Frontera, Estación de Cortés de la Frontera; Jimera de Líbar-Atajate, Benadalid, Benalauría; Algatocín, Benarrabá and Gaucín.

The Regional Minister for Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, Rocío Diaz, highlighted in the Andalusian Parliament that the programme «has established itself as the most successful initiative for bringing the inland districts of Andalusia closer to our beaches in a convenient and affordable way».

The minister noted the programme’s good reception among users since it was launched in 2019, which has led to the service being expanded year after year. «We are not only making it possible for residents of these towns and villages who do not have their own car to travel to the beach, but we are also promoting public transport, reducing dependence on private vehicles and fighting rural depopulation», the minister stressed.

Those interested in using this service will need to contact the tourist office of their Town Hall, or the Town Hall itself, to request it.
