Carmen Casero, territorial delegate for Development, Infrastructure and Spatial Planning of the Junta de Andalucía, has visited Manilva to meet the mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the councillors for Infrastructure and Works and for Institutional Relations, Diego José Jiménez and Francisco Miguel Álvarez respectively, as well as councillors Eva Galindo, Alba Jiménez, Marcos Ruiz and Manolo Gil.
It was a very important day for the town, as the agreement was signed for the Junta de Andalucía to transfer to the Town Hall the stretch of the A-377 that runs between Manilva and Sabinillas. The stretch covers 2,100 metres of road, along which a connecting path based on the public interest is planned.
The delegate referred to the work carried out by the Town Hall and said she was pleased to be able to respond to this demand.
For his part, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, thanked the delegate for her visit and expressed his satisfaction at having been able to resolve this matter, which is another step towards making the Manilva-Sabinillas pedestrian path a reality.
It should be recalled that the governing team’s main aim is to link this stretch so that it becomes pedestrian and can be used, either on foot or by bicycle, to travel from Manilva to Sabinillas.
The design is well advanced but needs permits from supramunicipal bodies, and with this signing a big step has been taken towards carrying out the idea, as the Institutional Relations councillor, Francisco Miguel Álvarez, pointed out.
The good relations between the Town Hall and other institutions, such as the Junta de Andalucía in this case, are proving essential for getting projects off the ground and making them a reality.
