Since the senior management of Unicaja announced, with no possibility of negotiation and no room for manoeuvre on the part of the Town Hall, the closure of the Manilva village branch, the mayor, Mario Jiménez, has tried by every means to ensure that residents are not left without the service of the only bank in the village.

Without taking into account that a large part of the population needs to make enquiries and carry out transactions, organise their savings and receive advice on their accounts through direct dealings with Unicaja staff, the Board of Directors decided to close the branch and leave thousands of people without a service, people who have trusted the savings bank for many years.

The mayor, who backs and supports the protests and the outrage of residents, has on many occasions conveyed his disappointment to the bank’s management, over a decision which he considers does not live up to the way the municipality has treated the institution, both as a savings bank and, of course, through its willingness and the constant assistance so that the Colonia Infantil became a social reference point for decades.

Although an innovative cash machine system with multiple options, through which all the necessary services can be carried out, will remain in place, the people of Manilva village, with the unconditional support of the Governing Team, voice their disagreement with the branch closing its doors as early as this month.
