Despite the low turnout at the first two, the mayor of Manilva has announced that he has asked the Málaga Health Department for a new mass screening, which has received a positive response and will take place in the coming days.

As a reminder, on 20 November, with an active incidence rate of 309.1 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants), the first screening was held at the Manilva sports hall. Turnout was low, though the figure was never made public, and no positive cases were detected. This first screening was requested after the active incidence rate in the town peaked at 579.5 on 9 November.

On 27 January, after reaching Manilva’s worst moment in terms of active COVID cases in the town, with a rate of 1,300.9 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants), a second screening was held, and Manilva Town Hall made no secret of its displeasure at the low turnout, which stood at 273 people out of almost 500 residents who were summoned by SMS message. Four positive cases were detected.

As of today, the active incidence rate in the municipality stands at 267.7 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants), after three days without an increase, but it is still one of the highest on the Costa del Sol.
