As we reported on 5 March, modifications were being made to the new bins (installed in October), adding a new side opening through which rubbish can be deposited without having to use the pedal, but this has raised many questions among residents.
Today we learned that Izquierda Unida has submitted a request, through the Town Hall’s registry, for all the information relating to these modifications, which according to the party are being carried out by municipal workers from the Public Works department, using municipal machinery, outside working hours and even though this work is the responsibility of the contractor.
For Izquierda Unida, the questions raised by these actions are obvious, and it is asking the Mayor’s Office, the Cleaning councillor, the Public Works councillor and the Municipal Comptroller’s Office for a response as soon as possible so that it can carry out its work as the opposition on the following issues:
- Who is paying the Manilva Town Hall workers?
- Have they been registered with the TGSS (Social Security) by the company?
- Why are workers being allowed to use municipal tools and vehicles for this private work?
- How were the workers carrying out the service chosen?
- How will the work be paid for? Whether the company holding the cleaning service contract (UTE Relima) will pay Manilva Town Hall and the Town Hall will then pay the employees, and whether they will be paid as overtime.
- Whether Manilva Town Hall will cover the costs directly or whether UTE Relima will pay the workers privately.
This newsroom will be watching for the swift response that the Town Hall will surely provide, as it has done throughout the whole term of office.
