Francisco Becerra was elected at an assembly held yesterday afternoon as the new general secretary of the PSOE in Manilva, a moment he himself described as «one of the most important days of my life». Through his social media profile, Becerra expressed his gratitude and his commitment to the party and the people of Manilva.
«My PSOE colleagues in Manilva have elected me at the Assembly as General Secretary of the Party. A political post that I have long hoped to reach since I first got into politics as a young man, and which today has become a reality through perseverance, hard work and enthusiasm», Becerra wrote.
In his message, the new general secretary thanked members for the trust placed in him and pledged not to let them down. «Those who know me know that I am an approachable, honest, upright, hard-working person, and very keen to do many things for my town», he said.
Becerra acknowledged the difficult political moment the municipality is going through, but said he was determined to change perceptions of local politics. «These are not good times for municipal politics, but I am willing to change that way of thinking that you have. I want you, and I ask you, to help me», he said.
The new leader of the PSOE in Manilva announced that his aim is to create a party «open to everyone without exception» and that he will work tirelessly to improve the municipality. «I need everyone’s support to change the direction our town has taken, and I am going to put all my effort into it», he declared.
Becerra also reported the election of a new local executive, made up of «great women and men who are eager to work together to change our town». He announced that they will soon begin to define the lines of work that the party’s group on the Town Hall will take to the council meetings and that they will make them known to residents.
Although there are still two years to go until the next municipal elections, Becerra promised that work and support for improvements for Manilva will begin immediately.», he concluded.
We recall that Becerra has already taken a direct part in politics, serving in the last term of office as Councillor for Agriculture and for Parks and Gardens. Among his achievements were the complete refurbishment of almost all the parks in the municipality and the promotion of the activity «Diviértete en los Parques» to introduce them to all the little ones. He also served as Councillor for Commerce, during which we highlight the launch of the Support Plan for self-employed workers and micro-SMEs to help set up businesses in the municipality.
