Do you live in an inland village and want to visit the beach at Sabinillas? The Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Fomento, Infraestructuras y Ordenación del Territorio (the regional department for Development, Infrastructure and Spatial Planning), has launched its Summer Coastal Transport Programme. It will allow residents of 15 towns and villages in the province to travel to the coast by public transport this summer.

The Summer Coastal Transport Programme, designed by the Dirección General de Movilidad (Directorate General for Mobility) and the network of Metropolitan Transport Consortia of Andalucía, aims to guarantee a public transport connection that allows people to enjoy the coastal area in a convenient and affordable way.

The programme tackles the isolation of some small municipalities far from the coast, improving the quality of life of inland residents and encouraging the use of public transport rather than reliance on private vehicles for these journeys. In the province of Málaga the programme offers 5 different routes, which will be operating in July, August and September. One of them allows the municipalities of the Genal Valley, among others, to enjoy the beaches of Sabinillas, using the following routes and timetables:
