3 July is International Plastic Bag Free Day. To mark the occasion, the Solid Urban Waste Department of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, Ecoembes and costadelsol.eco are launching a campaign to reduce the use of these polluting products.

As part of this, this morning the head of the aforementioned department, Juan Luis Villalón, handed over to Manilva Town Hall 3,000 cloth bags, which have been distributed in various places, mainly grocery shops, with the aim of raising public awareness.

The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, the councillors Paqui López, Laura López, Fran Becerra and Marcos Ruiz, as well as the area director, Pilar Zúñiga, were responsible for delivering the bags to the establishments today.

It is worth remembering that these plastic items have a useful life of about 10 minutes, but take at least 150 years to degrade.

If any shop of this type does not receive these bags in the coming days, it can go to the Edificio de Usos Múltiples (Multipurpose Building) in Sabinillas and collect them there.
