This morning, digitally, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, signed a decree delegating to the First Deputy Mayor, Diego José Jiménez, all the powers and responsibilities of the mayor’s office.

This temporary decision has been taken in view of the absence of Manilva’s mayor for medical reasons, and in order to maintain continuity in the government and administration of the Town Hall.

Diego José Jiménez told the media: «First of all, I want to wish Mario a speedy recovery, and to send a message of calm and, above all, normality to residents, as our responsibility is to ensure that municipal services continue as day-to-day life demands,» he said.

As required by law, the decree will be reported at the next ordinary council meeting.

Mario Jiménez posted a message on his social media, accompanied by a photo from his hospital bed, addressing residents:

«Dear residents, it is my duty, my responsibility and also my wish to inform you of the personal situation I have been going through since last Monday. A minor health problem means I cannot be fully present in my day-to-day work as mayor, tackling all the challenges we have ahead. I will be convalescing for a short period to regain my strength and return more eager than ever. I am proud to be your mayor and my commitment remains to work for my people with honesty and full dedication.
As has already been officially announced, the Town Hall is in good hands.
See you very soon and, as always, you can count on me.
A big hug to you all.»
From this newsroom, we wish him a speedy recovery.
