The Environment department councillor at Manilva Town Hall, Laura López, the first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez, and Dani Cano, president of Triatcan, visited the premises of the animal shelter in Estepona, Adana, this morning to hand over some 400 kilos of dog food.

The food was bought with the money raised at last year’s Mushing Race, which could not be handed over until now because of the months of the pandemic.

Dani Cano, who represents Triatcan, organiser of this annual sporting event held in our municipality together with the Environment department, expressed his satisfaction at being able to collaborate with this organisation.

Laura López welcomed the chance to contribute to this cause, recalling that Manilva Town Hall has a collaboration agreement with the shelter to achieve zero euthanasia of abandoned dogs in our town, which, once collected, are taken to this centre to be prepared for later adoption.

The councillor said it is important to be aware of this problem and to bear in mind that pets must be properly cared for and must never be mistreated or abandoned, recalling that this type of behaviour is punishable by law.

Adana does tireless work throughout the year, with facilities where the animals are kept in good condition until they find a family.
