At the start of the year, the closure of the Sabinillas sports hall was announced because of the need to carry out some minor refurbishment work and with the aim of significantly improving the service to residents, according to Manilva Town Hall.
A change of management was behind the closure. The company Edufy Formación will now run these public facilities and has told this newspaper about the current difficulties caused by COVID in carrying out the minor works required, even though construction and refurbishment are included among the essential activities at the current risk level in Manilva. For the same reason, until the risk level drops, with the current restrictions remaining in place for now until 10 February, sports centres and facilities cannot open.
PRICE INCREASES
The surprise will come with the prices; this change of management will bring an increase in the price of all activities, while keeping the same 25% discount for pensioners, retired people and holders of the youth card. Where an evening padel match previously cost €12, the price will now rise to €19, a 58.33% increase in this case, as will also happen with 6-a-side football.
For sports activities such as aerobics, zumba, back school, spinning, pilates, yoga and others, the cost before the closure and the switch to private management was €30 a month, which will see a 50% increase to €45.
As for the swimming pool, the price of swimming for adults, which cost €30 before passing into private hands, will likewise see a 50% increase, rising to €45, and swimming for children will go from €20 to €30.
