The Government Team, in a clear commitment to easing the tax burden on residents and providing assistance to those most in need, has amended the tax ordinance regulating the property tax (IBI) subject to law, which means there will be rebates when paying the IBI.
According to the Finance councillor, Manolo Gil: «The tax rate applied has been reduced to 0.6 for urban properties and to 0.45 for rustic properties».
At present, with a state of emergency in force, municipal management has focused on finding and implementing measures whose first aim is to preserve and protect the health of all our residents and, as a very close priority, to cushion the economic impact.
According to the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez: «the Government Team is firmly determined to lower taxes and to look for every possible way of easing the burden on family finances».
The section on rebates in the tax ordinance and its application will be set out in the following terms:
I. A rebate of 70% of the full tax charge will apply to properties in which economic activities are carried out that are declared to be of special municipal interest or benefit because of social, cultural, historical-artistic or job-creation circumstances. In order for a property to benefit from this rebate, it must obtain the corresponding declaration of special municipal interest or benefit by agreement of the council meeting, with the favourable vote of a simple majority of its members, following a request for a declaration by the taxpayer, accompanied by documentation proving that the substantive and formal conditions required to be declared as such are met.
II. Taxpayers who are holders of large family status will receive a 30% rebate on the full tax charge. The property concerned must have a cadastral value equal to or less than 170,000 euros.
III. The full tax charge will be reduced by 30% for properties in which systems for the thermal or electrical use of solar energy have been installed. In the case of properties in which both energy systems have been installed, the full tax charge will benefit from a single reduction of 50%. However, these rebates will be conditional on heat-producing installations including collectors approved by the competent authority.
IV. The above rebates will apply for the tax period in which the amendment to the tax ordinance comes into force and for the following one, and this period may be extended following an agreement reached by the competent body.
V. The compatibility of all the above rebates is regulated in the event that they coincide.
Likewise, a 5% rebate on the full tax charge will apply, replacing the current 3%, for taxpayers who pay their obligation by direct debit. This rebate will be compatible with those set out in points I, II and III.
All interested parties must complete the paperwork through the Patronato de Recaudación Provincial (Provincial Tax Collection Board), both in Manilva and in Sabinillas, by 30 January.
