The court acquits the defendants in the separate strand of the Manilva Case relating to the irregular funding of the El Hacho entity.
The court finds not guilty the former mayor Antonia Muñoz, the former cleaning councillor Paqui López, the Town Hall’s current legal adviser Aitor Menoyo and former councillors Antonio de Haro, Diego Díaz and Emilio López, as well as the current mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, of the offences of misuse of office (prevaricación) and embezzlement over alleged irregularities in the transfer of municipal funds to the El Hacho residential estate body when Muñoz was mayor.
We recall that this is one of the strands into which the “Manilva Case” was split.
17 YEARS IN THE COURTS
The events date back to 2008, when the Entidad Urbanística Colaboradora de Conservación del Complejo Residencial El Hacho was set up, the largest housing development in the municipality, located next to Puerto de la Duquesa.
The prosecutor stated in the indictment that both the mayor and some members of the Town Hall’s governing board ordered, or helped to approve with their vote, operations through which the El Hacho estate body was funded with public money from the Town Hall.
