Today the formal signing ceremony for the site layout (replanteo) of the extension to the Escuela Municipal de Música, Danza y Teatro de Manilva took place.
The ceremony, held in Plaza de Orfeo itself, was attended by the mayor, Mario Jiménez; the councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Diego José Jiménez; and the heads of the Culture and Urban Planning departments, Alba Jiménez and Marcos Ruiz, as well as municipal technicians and representatives of the company that will carry out the work.
For the mayor, this is a commitment kept and a project he had backed, and he stressed that this important work will bring together in a single space all the disciplines taught at these premises.
The head of the Infrastructure and Works department, Diego José Jiménez, spoke of the importance of getting this work under way, as these facilities are a benchmark in the cultural and educational field in the region.
According to the established timetable, the extension will be completed in early January next year, coinciding with the start of the second term of the 2021/22 school year.
The project will provide a «Dance Rehearsal Room» on the ground floor and a «Band Rehearsal Room» on the upper floor. The energy efficiency of the air conditioning, electricity, lighting and network connections will be modernised and optimised.
The extension works will also be used to alter the current layout, such as the Reception Hall and the Staff Room on the upper floor, or the creation of a new entrance and reception on the ground floor. Maintenance and conservation work will also be carried out on the building, such as waterproofing and thermal insulation of the roofs and façades of the whole building covered by this project.
For Alba Jiménez, as councillor for Culture, and given the rise in student numbers registered year after year, it is a satisfaction that students will have all their needs met thanks to this project.
Manilva Town Hall apologises to residents affected by the works, which will improve these facilities in every respect and enhance the quality of the teaching the students receive.
