Since the first meeting, held just after the start of the term of office, between the mayor, Mario Jiménez, the Environment and Ecology councillor, Laura López, and the Agriculture councillor, Francisco Becerra, and the managers of the Manilva quarry, the Town Hall has been monitoring the measures carried out.Fernando García, the quarry’s director, and Joaquín Berja, head of the production department, received proposals from the council, with the main focus on taking measures to reduce dust levels.

As the mayor of Manilva told them, «Although the quarry does not belong to the municipality of Manilva but to Casares, its proximity to our municipality means that these emissions must be tightly controlled and improvements in their control must always be sought».

The council also demanded that measures be reinforced, for example by increasing the number of water spray cannons and sprinklers, hiring a new water tanker that sprays around the clock, and cleaning the areas adjacent to the quarry.

The quarry’s managers also told members of the government of their intention to relocate the mills to the lowest area inside the quarry itself, which would also considerably improve the removal of these particles.

The governing team is currently very committed to the environment, and is also concerned about the state of the road and the safety of pedestrians. For this reason, the Town Hall has told the roads authority that it wishes to have the authority to clean the road, so as to avoid any kind of problem or accident.
