Did you know that your involvement in the Parents’ Association (AMPA) can have a direct impact on the quality of the education your children receive? Although day-to-day responsibilities often absorb us, devoting a little time to getting involved in your children’s school life can bring great benefits. The people who run it are mums and dads just like you, and they also want the best for their children.
Why is it important to be a member of the AMPA?
Greater involvement in decisions: AMPAs are a bridge between families and the school. By being part of one, you will have the chance to take part in meetings and in decisions that directly affect your child and their classmates.
Wider educational offer: AMPAs organise extracurricular activities, workshops and cultural outings that enrich pupils’ education.
Improved facilities: With the funds raised through membership fees and the activities they organise, AMPAs help to improve the school’s facilities. Although education is the responsibility of the Junta de Andalucia, there are many particular needs to be met in each school in order to improve comfort and quality during the children’s learning period.
Strengthening the school community: By joining the AMPA, you will meet other mums and dads with whom you can share experiences and create a support network so that you can find out about any situation at any time (incidents at the school, homework, one-off needs…)
Personal development: Taking part in the AMPA will allow you to develop communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
What can you do as a member of the AMPA?
Attend meetings: Stay informed about the AMPA’s activities and projects and take part in them.
Help with activities: Offer your time and skills to organise events and workshops.
Represent parents: Defend families’ interests at the school.
Spread the word about the AMPA: Invite other parents to join and take an active part.
Do you know which is the AMPA at your school in Manilva?
There are 4 parents’ associations in our town and, as we have learned at this newsroom, all of them would like greater involvement from families so that they can improve all the work they are able to carry out. We have gathered the information for each of them, and they will surely be delighted to welcome all the mums and dads who wish to join.

CLEAR EXAMPLES OF THESE ASSOCIATIONS’ WORK
These humble associations have achieved a great deal, but to mention some of the most recent examples, we can thank AMPA El Cortinal for the installation of pergolas in the playgrounds, air-conditioning units for classrooms and digital whiteboards… AMPA Santa Ana for the installation of projectors in classrooms, and tables and benches for outdoor activities… AMPA Oleaje for the purchase of air-conditioning units for the classrooms, a projector for the assembly hall, and touchscreens for infant classes… and AMPA El Poniente for iPads and robotics kits, projectors, awnings…
Don’t hesitate! Being a member of the AMPA is an investment in your children’s future. Join and take part in your children’s education, because education is everyone’s business!
