VOX takes the collapse and "extreme" overcrowding of IES Las Viñas in Manilva to the Andalusian Parliament

The VOX parliamentarian and vice-president of the Educational Development Committee, Antonio Sevilla, will demand that the Regional Education Department explain the «unacceptable situation» experienced by the people of Manilva.

The VOX Parliamentary Group in Andalusia has asked the Regional Department of Educational Development and Vocational Training about the «unacceptable situation» in Manilva, where families have once again reported the collapse and overcrowding of IES Las Viñas.

This school, which has a maximum capacity of 700 students, currently has almost double that number, 1,375 pupils, as well as 107 teachers.

«IES Las Viñas is a clear example that Moreno Bonilla’s government does not know how to manage education either», Antonio Sevilla criticised. «We have registered several questions so that the regional education minister Carmen Castillo explains why the Junta de Andalucía allows the extreme overcrowding of this school and what measures it intends to take to put an end to this problem», announced the VOX parliamentarian from Málaga.

«Several parents have contacted us asking us to report the situation. IES Las Viñas has been operating with prefabricated classrooms for decades«, the VOX member of the Andalusian Parliament stated. «What is Moreno Bonilla waiting for to keep his promise to remove all the prefab classrooms from schools in Málaga?», he asked.

«The Regional Education Department must pull its socks up and finally carry out the construction of a new school to relieve IES Las Viñas and also serve all the families of Manilva and Casares», he declared.

For his part, the VOX councillor in Manilva, Antonio Marín, has demanded «answers» from the Junta de Andalucía. «The people of Manilva deserve for the Regional Education Department to explain how long the pupils and teachers of IES Las Viñas will have to put up with this situation», he stated.

«IES Las Viñas is not only overcrowded, but it also suffers serious deterioration, including leaks and damp in certain parts of the building. This situation is unacceptable«, he declared.
