Unemployment rose in Manilva in October with 18 more people out of work, a trend that repeats every year owing to the seasonal nature of employment in our municipality, where these figures fall during the summer months and rise especially in the last months of each year. In total, the municipality contributes 822 people to the unemployment figures, with 488 women (11 more than in September) and 334 men (7 more than in September), the lowest figure for an October since 2007.
Provincial data
October saw an increase of 1,062 unemployed people in the province of Málaga, a rise mainly driven by the gradual departure of workers from the services sector once the summer high season has ended, as also happens in our municipality. Following that rise, the total number of unemployed people in Málaga now stands at 99,214, which is also the lowest figure for an October since 2007.
