According to a statement from CCOO at the Hospital de Costa del Sol, the Costa del Sol Health Agency has reported that, given the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is likely that the Estepona Hospital will open on 1 February 2021.
Initially, only Outpatient Consultations and Inpatient Care would open.
The exponential rise in infections in the Costa del Sol health area, where the number of hospital patients has increased by 197 since Monday, is speeding up the opening of these new facilities, which will help ease the overcrowding of patients at the Hospital Costa del Sol.
The active 14-day rate for the health district as of today, Thursday 14 January, stands at 352 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants), which equates to 1,925 active cases of COVID-19.
Among the towns close to this new hospital, Manilva shows the highest active incidence in the whole of the Costa del Sol at 495.9; Estepona has an active incidence of 351.5 and Casares 122.8 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants), with a combined total of 325 people across these three towns.
