Manilva Town Hall has reported on the meeting held between the mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the new lieutenant assigned to the town’s Guardia Civil post, David Carmona. Also taking part were the chief sergeant, Javier Morilla, and the person the Town Hall itself presents as the «head of the Local Police», Javier González.
It is precisely this last detail that has attracted the most attention, as the procedure for the permanent appointment to the head of the Local Police has not yet officially concluded with the publication of the appointment resolution.
Just a few days ago, the Town Hall published the final list of admitted candidates and summoned the two applicants to defend their projects as part of the selection process to fill the post of head of the Local Police. However, to date the final resolution of the competition and the official appointment of the selected candidate have not been made public.
Despite this, in the post published by the Town Hall itself, Javier González is expressly identified as head of the Local Police. This seems to anticipate once again that the procedure has already concluded internally and that the town will once more have a chief officer of the police force, although this has still not been formalised through the corresponding official publication. A similar situation previously led to a legal challenge, which meant the procedure for awarding the post had to be restarted.
During the meeting, the mayor, who is also responsible for Public Safety in the municipality, told the new Guardia Civil lieutenant of the need to strengthen security in Manilva through greater coordination between the Guardia Civil and the Local Police.
According to the Town Hall, the meeting also addressed other matters, such as improving the Guardia Civil barracks and the Town Hall’s request to increase the number of officers assigned to the municipality.
