Manilva Town Hall is taking action after a wall collapsed at midday today at Colegio Maicandil and has cordoned off the affected area for safety reasons. We reported the condition of this same wall on our social media channels in January, after parents warned us of how dangerous it was.
The Infrastructure and Works departments, headed by Marcos Ruiz, and Education, led by Laura Salazar, have now responded immediately to the incident. Following the collapse, the affected area has been cordoned off to guarantee the safety of pupils and school staff.
We remind readers that just a few days ago, repairs were announced at the same school, a few metres from the wall:
Municipal technicians have carried out an initial inspection of the area to assess the damage and look for solutions to the problem with this structure, which has been affected by the large amount of rain accumulated in recent times.
The Town Hall has also announced that it will contact the authorities responsible for education to inform them in detail of what has happened and to cooperate in preventing similar incidents in the future.
