Andalucía now has new restrictions in place to tackle the third wave of the pandemic. The president of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, chaired today’s meeting with the committee of experts, after which he announced the agreed measures, which replace those established for the Christmas period and will come into force on Monday at 00:00 until 25 January. As a result, the region remains closed at its borders, having been open during the festive period. It will only be possible to enter and leave Andalucía «for justified reasons».

The region’s municipalities, however, will continue to have freedom of movement, as was the case at Christmas, except for Añora, the town with the highest cumulative rate in Andalucía, and the eight towns of the Campo de Gibraltar that already had this restriction. Movement between provinces will also remain permitted «for the time being». Moreno added that, when the experts advise it, this measure «will be limited». «We are going to give these measures some time to see whether infections slow down», he explained.

Moreno also confirmed that the curfew, which had been in force from 23:00 to 06:00, is being changed again to start earlier, at 22:00, and end at 06:00. Gatherings, meanwhile, are limited to six people.

In hospitality, home delivery is permitted until 23:30 and collection from establishments until 21:30.

As for the start of the school term, it «will go ahead as normal», and university classes in provinces at level 4 will be online. In this regard, «a strict protocol» will be established for the arrival of exams.
