The Environment department reports on the period authorised for the burning of stubble, pasture and waste from agricultural activities during periods of low risk. In the case of Manilva, this runs from 1 November to 30 April, as it is a fire-risk area.
For this activity, authorisation is required from the Environment department of Manilva Town Hall.
These authorisations will be subject to the conditions set out in DECREE 247/2001, which approves the Regulation on the Prevention of and Fight Against Forest Fires.
The area headed by Laura López also reports on the mandatory preventive measures that must be taken.
- While the burning is taking place, it must be supervised at all times until 2 hours after the last flames and embers have died out.
- Neighbours must be notified of the burning 48 hours in advance.
- Avoid windy days. Burning may not be carried out on days when the wind, from any direction, reaches force 3 on the Beaufort scale, whose noticeable effects are leaves and twigs in constant motion.
- Under no circumstances may burning be carried out if the wind is blowing towards buildings, wooded areas, scrubland, bushes or any other space where the fire could pose a risk of causing serious damage.
- If the burning is interrupted, or cannot be carried out because of the circumstances described in the previous paragraph, it will be resumed or started on the first day on which those circumstances no longer apply.
- Burning must start after sunrise and be finished before 16:00, and if it is burning for agricultural activities in a Forest Influence Zone, it must finish before 14:00. In both cases, it may not be carried out on Sundays or public holidays.
