Tomorrow, Wednesday, the new cleaning service comes into operation in our municipality, after the contract was awarded to the company Relina, a joint venture (UTE) made up of FCC Medio Ambiente, S.A.U-FCC Equal CEE Andalucía, S.L-Cabello and Servilimpsa S.L, which have hired their own staff to carry out this work. The contract for this service has been awarded for 10 years and will cost the municipal coffers 31 million euros.
The municipal staff who worked in this department up to today will be reassigned to different departments (public works, parks and gardens…), and some will retire. Employees of this department have told this newsroom of their discontent at the way their working relationship with the department is being ended, in which some have served as employees for 30 years. According to what they have told us, a simple phone call today has been their «thanks» for so many years of service, telling them the time and place where they are to continue working tomorrow, now in another department.
These workers feel sad at having to leave a job to which they have dedicated part of their lives, in conditions that were in many cases deplorable, without the means or equipment to carry out their work with dignity and safety, covering a very important service for a municipality whose population triples in the summer months but where staffing was not increased accordingly.
«We expected at least some thanks for so many hours of service,» some of these workers, who from tomorrow will continue to serve the municipality from another department, have told us.
