A recycling awareness campaign has been launched for pupils at the three nursery and primary schools in Manilva.
In fact, the schools have already begun to receive a range of bins that will be placed in each classroom. There will be a yellow one for packaging, a blue one for paper/cardboard and a brown one for organic waste.
The same bins will also be placed, in a larger format, in the schools’ playgrounds.
The mayor stressed the importance of teaching children to look after our environment, hence the initiative now under way.
Jiménez pointed out that the brown bin for organic waste is something new, which can now also be found at the bin points throughout the municipality, and he encouraged residents to use them.
As the mayor explained, the handing over of these bins comes with a competition: the class at each school that recycles the most will travel to the Centro de Educación y Actividades en la Naturaleza Coto de la Isleta in El Puerto de Santa María, so that building a recycling habit will, in this case, be rewarded for the schoolchildren.
