Last Saturday, the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora del Carmen de San Luis de Sabinillas held a special event at the local parish church to present the new painting that will be used as the image on the poster announcing the festivity, as well as the new mantle that the image will wear on its feast day on 16 July and will display on its procession through the streets of Sabinillas.
The event was attended by the Hermana Mayor (head of the brotherhood), Johanna Ledesma, among other prominent members of the brotherhood. Representatives of Manilva Town Hall also attended, including mayor José Manuel Fernández and the Culture councillor, Fina Gómez.
The poster, once again, was created by the talented artist Juan Galeote. The image of the patron saint of sailors, holding her son in her arms and framed by a blue sky, was created using pastel sticks and pencils, and measures 80×60 cm.
Meanwhile, the Virgin’s new mantle, which was generously donated by members of the brotherhood, was made by Gonzalo Rodríguez. The mantle features a beautiful style inspired by the 18th-century Baroque, specifically Rococo Baroque, known for its abundance of detail.
