The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, has requested a meeting with the new territorial delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and for University, Research and Innovation, Miguel Briones Artacho, to resume the important project of the new secondary school in our town.
It should be recalled that the appropriate steps were taken at municipal level, with the proposal brought to a council meeting and several plots of land ceded to the Junta de Andalucía to meet this educational need and ease the pupil-to-teacher ratio at the «Las Viñas» secondary school in Manilva.
According to the Manilva mayor: «as a Town Hall we have scrupulously complied with all the bureaucratic and administrative requests made by the previous Education delegate, Mercedes García Paine, and the technical staff of the aforementioned supra-municipal body. We will therefore now resume contact with the new delegate to speed up the paperwork so that the secondary school becomes a reality as soon as possible,» he said.
On the subject of education, the mayor reiterated: «we have improved the Maicandil and Pablo Picasso schools, and considerably extended the one in San Luis de Sabinillas with building work that is substantial in every sense. The secondary school is another of the objectives we have set ourselves so that the education community has the best facilities for pupils’ development,» he concluded.
