National Police officers from the Algeciras (Cádiz) station arrested a man in Sabinillas (Málaga) at around 8:00 yesterday, Wednesday, as the alleged perpetrator of offences against honour, as well as an alleged offence of harassment of Local Police officers and representatives of local institutions, including the mayor of Algeciras.
The investigation began after several Algeciras Local Police officers detected a social media profile from which manipulated audiovisual content was being circulated, relating to a police intervention that took place in late August 2025, as the National Police stated in a press release.
According to the investigation, the detainee allegedly edited and published videos that included musical excerpts and insulting text, as well as allegedly attributing to the officers serious offences that they had not committed. The accusations circulated included references to alleged theft, damage to property and torture.
The profile’s activity had allegedly intensified over recent months, developing into a campaign of harassment aimed at Local Police officers.
The account holder had allegedly urged his followers to obtain and circulate the names and home addresses of the officers, accompanying these posts with extremely serious comments and explicit calls to violence.
The investigation also established that the author had allegedly extended his posts to representatives of local institutions, through accusations relating to alleged selection processes in the Local Police and provocative messages aimed at public officials.
Once the account holder had been fully identified, the officers, with the relevant court authorisation, entered and searched the property in Manilva. During the operation, several electronic devices were seized which had allegedly been used to create, edit and subsequently circulate the content published on the social network.
The detainee was brought before the judicial authority for the relevant proceedings. The investigation remains open in order to establish the full extent of the events and of any people who may have been affected.
