According to Compromiso Manilva, the new bins that will form part of the town’s street furniture have now arrived, replacing the existing ones. The new bins are fully enclosed and made of aluminium rather than plastic, unlike the current ones, which are badly worn through use and age.

They have a capacity of 3,000 litres and have a pedal to open them hands-free, although they can also be opened by hand.

The collection system will be different: a hook will lift and empty the bin from the top of the lorry, which will also soon be replaced by a side-loading vehicle that will make the work easier for operatives and improve its cleaning system.

FCC, the company in charge of the cleaning service in the town, continues to introduce all the improvements set out in the contract and to bring order to a very poor service that the municipality had been putting up with for years.

The investment made in the underground bins will be left behind. Since they were brought into use they have been problematic to collect and maintain, and most of them have been out of service for more than two years.
