Thirty-four arrests, almost six tonnes of hashish seized, €270,000 in cash, 25 vehicles, weapons, IT and communications equipment, and more than 17,000 packets of contraband tobacco. This is the outcome of Operation «Pólvora», whose final phase was carried out on Monday by the Guardia Civil in the Campo de Gibraltar and the province of Málaga.

The operation has dismantled one of the most important drug trafficking organisations in the Strait of Gibraltar which, according to ABC, is linked to the all-powerful «Los Castañitas» clan.

A total of 300 officers from the Algeciras and Málaga Command Areas, along with the GAR, the OCON-Sur and Crain, carried out 31 simultaneous raids: 22 in La Línea de la Concepción, six in San Roque, one in Algeciras, one in Manilva (Málaga) and another in Málaga city.
Some of the properties searched in La Línea are located in El Zabal, where many drug traffickers have found the perfect refuge. They are luxury houses with swimming pools, built with top-quality materials.

Most of the vehicles seized had been stolen. They are 21 high-end off-road vehicles that the organisation used to transport the drugs from the coasts of the Campo de Gibraltar and Málaga to the hashish «guarderías» (storage sites). The other four vehicles, also high-end, were used by the leaders of the organisation. Many were parked at «guarderías», ready for use.

The raids also uncovered three weapons, specifically a shotgun and two handguns, as well as a large amount of documentation that will allow the investigation into this drug trafficking network to continue to move forward.
